Designed to deceive? The Volkswagen emissions scandal and the future of cyber trust

In a column for Forbes, CIRI researcher John Villasenor asks what happens when a manufacturer ships a product with software intentionally designed to deceive customers and the public. Unfortunately, it’s a question that has become particularly timely.

As has been widely reported, Volkswagen is under fire for allegedly shipping nearly 500,000 diesel cars in the United States with software designed to defeat emissions tests.
