Fox is the Interim Executive Director of Texas A&M University’s Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center (ITEC).  He serves as the Principal Investigator on the NG911 Interoperability Testing Program – Phase 3, as well as co-PI on several other projects. Fox has worked in telecommunications and Internet engineering since 1984, when, at LSU, he helped build one of the largest PBX systems in the country in response to the break-up of the Bell System, and he supported one of the first sites of the new NSFnet, which would later form the foundation of the Internet as we know it today. Fox held various executive positions at Wellfleet and Bay Networks as well as Nortel Networks, where he served as VP of Worldwide Systems Engineering, designing and supporting some of the largest networks in the world.  He later served as VP of Consulting Engineering and Business development at metro-Ethernet start-up Atrica (bought by Nokia), and VP of Services and Operations at virtual networking start-up Vyatta (bought by Brocade).  Prior to joining the ITEC Fox transitioned into public safety VHF/UHF and microwave networks and designed, built, and supported a countywide emergency communications network linking EOCs, hospitals, and other key sites.
