Samantha Koon joins CIRI as an experienced marketing and communications practitioner and educator. In her current role, she will provide strategic communications, marketing, and public relations support to CIRI’s research team. She will also coordinate with DHS Science and Technology Directorate Office of University Programs on communications related projects.
Prior to her current position, Samantha has lead the marketing and communications function for several organizations, including Millikin University, the International Society of Arboriculture, and the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University. Her areas of expertise include market analysis, strategic planning, and marketing planning for products, events, and causes. Samantha also taught ag and environmental communications at the University of Illinois for several years and frequently leads workshops and conference sessions on marketing and strategic planning topics.
Believing that professional involvement is an essential part of personal and professional growth, Samantha has been active in several professional and volunteer organizations, including the National Agri Marketing Association, the American Society for Association Executives, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and Psi Iota Xi. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Monticello Main Street and chairs the Piatt County Tourism Committee.
